MUSIC BIO: With the release of his first EP Get Goin’, Kyle Ward breaks from the confines of indie-folklore, stepping into a record rich with stereo nostalgia, heavy guitar, soulful swagger, and cowboy surf rock. With any luck, he’ll transport his listeners to alternate timelines where moments of hesitation are rewound for the taking, and maybe they’ll think twice about needing to get goin’. Recorded and mixed at Broadway Music Studios in 2023, Kyle and Producer Bob Barrick assembled a cast of diverse talents for Get Goin’, among them the members of the self-proclaimed cactus jazz movement Dry Mouth, Boulder’s own Ramaya Soskin, and flute extraordinaire Art Heffron. Having lived in Colorado for over a decade, Kyle took to songwriting after a fluke run-in with Boulder’s Troubadours, discovering a band of songwriters pulling on the threads of wonder and the marrow of curiosity. You could say the rest is history as he found himself trying to make sense of the world through the songs he would assemble in the middle of the night. Perhaps a daydreamer at heart or a Medium by nurture, Kyle’s songwriting blends the elemental landscapes of his adventurous pursuits with a scenic awareness written into his lyrics. Harnessing an almost rule breaking setup combining acoustic guitar with chorus, delay, and reverb pedals, lo-fi tube breakups, and a sweet leathery cowboy voice, Kyle’s sound is rich with the elemental tones of his chance run-ins with life.
